2012 Chevy Cruze Boasts Fuel Economy and Digital Upgrades

July 20, 2011

Drive nearly 600 miles on a single tank of gas with the 2012 Chevrolet Cruze six-speed manual transmission models. Boasting a two mile per gallon bump in fuel economy and a 15.6 gallon tank General Motor’s Cruze models will now run 38 mpg.

2012 Cruze drivers also welcome themselves to the digital age without additional purchase of the $525 Connectivity Plus Cruise package offered as a supplement to 2011 models. General Motors has integrated the Connectivity Plus package offerings into the 2012 Cruze, which will now come equipped with Bluetooth access, a USB port, steering wheel-mounted audio controls, cruise control (no pun intended), as well as leather on both the tiller and shift knob.

Rick Scheidt, Vice President of Chevrolet marketing, states that integrating the Connectivity Plus package into purchase of a 2012 model “streamlines the ordering process,” as the package was added by 90% of 2011 Cruze buyers – direct indication that Chevrolet is paying close attention to changing consumer demands.

“Fuel economy is the top reason customers buy a compact car,” adds Scheidt in regards to the Cruze’s increased efficiency, but when paired with new gadget offerings Scheidt says the 2012 Cruze is “all the more attractive.”

The Cruze, which steadily increased in global sales last quarter, continues to be Chevrolet’s best-selling nameplate with purchases surpassing 250,000 in the first four months of the year.
Additional Cruze goodies include keyless entry, keyless start, touch screen navigation, compact spare tires, fog lamps, and a three-month trial period with SiriusXM Satellite Radio. Exterior color options include Blue Granite Metallic, Blue Topaz Metallic, and Victory Red (with RS appearance package only).

“Fueled by a successful launch in the United States and continued growth in China, Chevrolet Cruze is proving to be the right car at the right time.”

concludes Scheidt.
