More than two hundred thousand were sold in that same year. Within this sum twenty thousand were the coveted convertible models. A 6-cylinder coupe was just above $2,400.00. Camaros' introductory model was manufactured between the years of 1967 to 1969. This was the birth place of the Z28 which forever changed the automotive mind set.
From the beginning of the 1970's and into the early 1980's, the second generation bagged the convertible option yet continued to build T-Tops from the late 1970's to inspire many copycat automakers to follow suit. LS and LT's get an extra kick from a 3.6 L V6, with a manual shift to create 304 hp wedded to a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic tweaked with a manual shift. The automatic SS gets the L99 V8. The RS version is offered on both the LT and SS models. These sport 20-inch rims with a deeper gray color and halo rings around the headlights. These features have brought car buyers back to Chevy dealers in droves, sometimes putting in orders for future shipments as stock ran out. The rush was on again to own the head-turning curves of a Camaro, a real prize in American auto making.
