Chevy Equinox

The Equinox is produced by the long-trusted car manufactures, the General Motors Company. GM was founded by Louis Chevrolet and then taken over by GM founder William C. Durant in 1911. Ever since its purchase, Chevrolet has led the way in automotive cutting edge vehicles ever since. The Equinox is just one of the many manufactured over the years to offer car buyers the best in transportation.

The Equinox Sport model of the Equinox that showcases a lowered ride height and the new 3.6 DOHC V6 to offer the owner a bit of extra kick in the ride. This enhanced, more powerful engine, lets the Equinox kick into action faster and increases horsepower over 40% (raising it to 264). The Sport model also showcases a modified exterior styling, 18 inch wheels and a six speed automatic transmission, that appeals to the more sporty car buyer in today's car buying market.

The new Equinox LTZ model joined the lineup soon after its first generation rolled off the assembly line. The LTZ model is different from other Equinox models by its bright aluminum wheels door handles, and bright chrome luggage rack side rail. Just the standard interior features include temperature-controlled front seats, leather seating inserts, and head curtain side impact air bags. It's not only crucial to Chevy to save the environment, but also your family. It is common for any vehicle to include AM/FM stereo, but the six-disc in-dash CD changer and MP3 CD playback capability with a premium seven-speaker audio system puts more variation. The Equinox LTZ also features the same improved ride and handling package as LS and LT models. The 2008 model featured three new exterior colors: Navy Blue Metallic, Black Granite Metallic and Golden Teal Metallic. Chevrolet is always trying to give the auto buyer more and more variation to appeal to more customers.

In the case of an accident, or where a driver finds them lost in uncertain territory, the OnStar Corporation provides subscription-based, hands-free calling system. This provides a turn-by- turn navigation feature and remote diagnostics systems throughout the United States and Canada. OnStar Is only available on '08 Equinox models. To aid the driver's peace of mind when driving the Chevy Equinox it also includes an enhanced handling package for 2008 that includes stiffer shocks, hydraulic bushings and tuned spring rates. Also new for 2008 is Electronic Trailer Sway Control – a feature that is installed into the standard StabiliTrak.

StabiliTrak is General Motors' nomenclature for their Electronic Stability Control system. The StabiliTrak Control System has been included as standard on all GM SUV's sold in the U.S. This high-tech system detects the occurrence of trailer sway that may be caused by improper trailer weight or disproportionate vehicle speed.

 

Second generation (2011)

The 2011 Equinox went on sale in June 2011. This generation of the Chevy Equinox is constructed on a more reinforced platform used in the previous model. It was also enhanced by the latest variant of fuel injection employed in modern two- and four- stroke petrol engines which offer better fuel economy. This is a feature any car buyer would jump to own today with gas prices still a high-priced commodity. Yet, there is so much more to be found in the Chevy Equinox. Also available is a 3.0-liter V6 engine which produces torque with fuel economy when driving on city interstates and more rural highways. Those interested in purchasing the Equinox should know that the powertrains are backed by six-speed automatics and optional all-wheel-drive systems.

For those who want to take a more active roll in saving the environment, the Equinox is a fuel cell vehicle, or FC for short, vehicle that utilizes a fuel cell to turn out its on-board motive power. FC hydrogen vehicles generate electricity to power an electric motor by utilizing hydrogen fuel using hydrogen where its only emission is water. The Equinox Fuel Cell is also designed to be operate in subfreezing temperatures throughout its life. The manufactures of the Chevy Equinox Fuel Cell state that this version is than the original Equinox, being one inch less ground clearance. Yet, to reduce this added weight, the Equinox Fuel Cell has been installed with aluminum doors and a carbon fiber hood. To show the auto buyer how much they are saving unnecessary emissions causing harm to the earth, the Equinox Fuel Cell has a display on the dash which alerts the driver how much fuel they have saved relative to the same mileage of a gasoline-powered Equinox. Of course, the Equinox Fuel Cell is certified by the EPA, United States Environmental Protection Agency.

The seating in the Equinox is cozy and offers plenty of legroom for all those who climb inside. It is a perfect vehicle for anyone who wants to keep their family safe, save on gasoline, and play a more active roll in protecting the environment.
